At The Casco School, we focus on your child's holistic development—academically, socially, and emotionally. Our bilingual British curriculum is enhanced with co-curricular activities, international values, and personalised learning pathways to ensure each child grows into a confident, capable learner.

A Bilingual, International Education

Our Primary School (Years 1–6) blends the best of the British National Curriculum with Spanish language and culture, offering a truly bilingual education. Literacy is taught in both English and Spanish, with specialist instruction aligned to UK standards and guidelines from the Ministerio de Educación de España and Instituto Cervantes. Students are grouped according to attainment in both languages, ensuring personalised support for native and non-native speakers.

Core Academic Framework

We follow the UK Primary Curriculum, which is internationally recognised for developing children’s knowledge, skills, and understanding across all subjects. Our approach encourages exploration, inquiry, and cross-curricular connections, helping children make meaningful links in their learning.

Subjects include:

  • English and Spanish: Phonics, reading, writing, grammar

  • Mathematics: Mastery approach using White Rose Maths

  • Computing

  • PSHE: Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (Jigsaw Programme)

  • Topic: Integrated History, Geography, and Science

  • Art and Design

  • Physical Education

  • PACE: Personal and Citizenship Education

  • Panamanian Studies

Engaging & Holistic Learning

We believe that learning should be exciting and meaningful. Our topic-based curriculum integrates multiple disciplines around central themes like “Amazing Animals” or “The Ancient Greeks”. These units link Science, History, Geography, Literature, and the Arts to promote creativity, critical thinking, and global awareness.

Through hands-on projects, discussion, and collaboration, students gain a deeper understanding of the world around them and develop a love for lifelong learning.

Personalised Learning in Small Classes

Our unique co-teaching model ensures that each class benefits from both an English and a Spanish teacher working collaboratively with up to 22 students. This allows for:

  • Targeted instruction and flexible grouping

  • Dual-language fluency and cultural exposure

  • Close monitoring of individual progress

  • Consistent emotional and academic support

Personal, Social, and Emotional Development

Academic growth goes hand-in-hand with personal development. Through our PSHE curriculum and whole-child approach, students build:

  • Emotional literacy

  • Empathy and ethical thinking

  • Resilience and responsibility

  • Confidence and communication skills

We also prepare students socially and emotionally for their transition to secondary school through collaborative activities with the Middle and High School teams.

Assessment & Reporting

Assessment is an integral part of our teaching process. We use a combination of:

  • Formative assessments: Real-time feedback to adjust teaching

  • Summative assessments: End-of-unit evaluations like quizzes and performance tasks

  • Individual targets: Tailored goals to help each student make progress

Parents receive three academic reports each year (Autumn, Spring, Summer) and have the opportunity to meet with teachers to discuss their child’s development. Reports comply with Meduca standards and highlight both academic progress and personal growth.
