SCHOOL LIFE

A Day in the Life at The Casco School - Morning
A day at The Casco School is filled with discovery, creativity, and connection—where students are inspired to learn, explore, and grow in a supportive and vibrant environment.
Morning Arrival
Students arrive with eager smiles, greeted warmly by teachers and peers. The school day begins with a calm and welcoming assembly or form time where students set intentions for the day, connect with their classmates, and prepare mentally for learning ahead.
Academic Learning
Classes are dynamic and interactive, with lessons designed to engage every learner. In the Early Years and Primary stages, students learn through play, exploration, and hands-on projects, while older students in Secondary and High School engage in critical thinking, inquiry, and collaborative problem-solving. English and Spanish are seamlessly integrated, nurturing bilingual proficiency across all ages.
Break and Social Time
Mid-morning breaks give students time to recharge, socialize, and enjoy the outdoors under close supervision. Playgrounds buzz with laughter, games, and friendship-building activities.
Lunch and Community
Lunch is a relaxed and social time where students gather in the cafeteria or outdoor spaces to share meals, friendships, and stories. Healthy, nutritious options support their energy and focus for the afternoon.

A Day in the Life at The Casco School - Afternoon
Afternoon Activities
Afternoons are a blend of academic lessons and creative or physical enrichment. Students might dive into science experiments, work on group projects, attend music or art classes, or participate in sports and fitness sessions. Teachers encourage curiosity and collaboration in every activity.
After-School Programs
After the regular school day, many students join our vibrant after-school clubs, ranging from jiu-jitsu and yoga to dance, soccer, and STEAM projects. These activities foster new skills, confidence, and lasting friendships.
End of Day Reflection
Before heading home, students often take a moment to reflect on their learning and achievements of the day. Teachers provide feedback and encouragement, helping each student feel proud and motivated.
Home and Beyond
At home, students continue their learning journey with supportive homework and family engagement, preparing them for the next exciting day at Casco.

After-School Program and Club Activities

At The Casco School, we believe that learning and growth happen both inside and outside the classroom. Our after-school program offers a wide variety of activities that allow students to explore new interests, develop talents, and build friendships.
We offer classes such as jiu-jitsu, yoga, dance, soccer, and tennis, giving children opportunities to stay active, build confidence, and learn new skills in a fun and supportive environment.
Each year, we celebrate our vibrant community with a Traditional Sports Day, where all students come together to participate in friendly competitions and enjoy a day full of teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun.

Student Wellbeing
At The Casco School, student wellbeing is central to our mission. We embrace the Zones of Regulation philosophy to help students develop self-awareness and emotional regulation skills, empowering them to manage their feelings and behaviours effectively. Our caring and inclusive community fosters emotional, social, and physical wellbeing through dedicated pastoral care and programmes that build resilience, mindfulness, and positive relationships.
We actively involve students in shaping their school experience through the Student Council, which represents the student voice and participates in school-wide decision-making. This ensures students feel heard, valued, and empowered to contribute to a positive school culture.
Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) plays a vital role in supporting students’ emotional and behavioural needs, providing personalised counselling and guidance. We also offer parent workshops on behaviour management and support, helping families work in partnership with the school to nurture each child’s wellbeing and development.
Together, these elements create a supportive environment where every student feels safe, respected, and equipped to thrive academically and personally.

Membership and Participation
At The Casco School, each class elects a Class Representative who plays a vital role in organising social events, outings, and supporting new families as they join our community. These Class Representatives collectively form the Parents Association (PA), which meets monthly with the School Principal to discuss initiatives and collaborate on school improvements.
The Family Association operates as a registered NGO and serves as a valuable partner to the school by advocating for families, organising events, and raising funds to enhance the school experience. Past initiatives have included organising family BBQs and coffee mornings, assisting with costumes for school plays, supporting sports teams and the Model United Nations team, as well as hosting informative workshops for parents.
By enrolling your child at The Casco School, you automatically become a member of the Parent Association, which welcomes your participation in events and activities throughout the year. Families are encouraged to volunteer and contribute to the vibrant school community.
The Family Association also invites families to join with a voluntary annual subscription of $30 per family, which helps fund their ongoing projects and support services.
